One of the great things about having my own personal corner of the internet is that sometimes I can put on the brakes, come to a screeching halt and go in a different direction. Welcome to the first of those.

Fair and Feminist has called for a Blog Carnival to stand up for Planned Parenthood. Well, here I stand.
I stand with Planned Parenthood because there are many times I could not afford birth control and Planned Parenthood is how I got it. They have never once been judgmental, rude or anything but helpful to me. They provide necessary health care to women and men. Federal funding does not go towards abortions provided there or anyone else.
Yes, I would love it if they provided more adoption referral services. Don't think I don't know they have low referral #s there. I just know that they have provided services to prevent millions of women from HAVING to have the adoption vs abortion debate. Birth control is a necessary service in this day and age. Even when birth control 'fails', Planned Parenthood provides low cost prenatal care, allowing women who otherwise would have gone without to have care for their unborn child.
